In 1974 Craig Gruber got his hands on a 1963 Gibson Thunderbird bass. Due to the dissatisfaction with the limited number sounds of the Thunderbird Craig began to try his hand at modifications. In 1975 Craig supercharged the 63' Thunderbird by routing out, and installing a Fender jazz pickup by the bridge. Additionally he added two hi-A pickups wired in stereo and a bass boost overdrive circuit! Craig then ran each pickup to it's own individual Marshall stack, rivaling or surpassing John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, as well Jack Bruce's setup.
In 2006 Craig was contacted by a Luthier that had previously built Craig a custom bass when he was working with Ronnie James Dio and Black Sabbath on the Heaven and Hell album. After years of shredding legions of bass guitars, Craig was tired of settling for anything less then the best and decided to utilize his thirty years of experience. Infinite Metal Werkz was founded by Craig Gruber with the intentions of bringing new and innovative designs that encompass proper weight, balance, comfort, structure, appearance, superior electronics, incredible workmanship, with a flawless finish, capable of a myriad of tones.
Craig Gruber's career resume and accomplishments include working and recording with Elf, Ronnie James Dio, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Gary Moore, The Rods, and his own solo career with Bible Black.
